As per the report released by the GMA News, a House Budget hearing was held on Tuesday for the agency of the said justice secretary.

While on hearing, he has mentioned about the controversial death of the 12th grader and the other casualties of the anti-drug campaign of the reigning administration.

On the briefing, Kabataan party-list Representative Sarah Elago outstretched her disappointment when Aguirre said that “Kian’s death was just an isolated case.”

The female party-list representative said, “Hindi natin nakakalimutan ang nangyari sa four-year-old na si Althea Barbon noong September 2016 na napatay kasama ng kanyang ama sa isang drug raid.”

But the Justice Secretary Aguirre defended that he only stated it because he thinks that the death of the teenager was intended by the cops.

“Itong kauna-unahan na meron pang CCTV. Parang in-admit na rin ng mga pulis na talagang ang hawak nila na kabataan before he was killed ay si Kian. In other words, there is no excuse for killing this 17-year-old,” Aguirre said.

He then further indicated, “I sympathize with you, pero hindi lamang natin tignan itong mga biktima ng mga kabataan dito sa war on drugs. Anong ginawa ng mga taong yan na nakikisimpatiya kunwari kay Kian? Anong ginawa nila nung napatay ang isang pamilya sa Bulacan? May dumalaw ba sa inyo doon? Wala.”

He just wanted to point out that the criminal cases should be treated by the legislators and other human rights group equally.

Aguirre also mentioned other casualties such r*pe cases, the partiality of other groups, and among others.

But eventually, at the end of the briefing, he apologized for his “demeanor”.

“If I offended the sensibilities of some of the members [of the House], I’m very sorry,” he said.
