Philippine military recovers Grand Mosque in Marawi.
GRAND MOSQUE – The Grand Mosque is now under the control of the Philippine Military troops but found no hostages or terrorists.
According to the report of the ABS-CBN News, Thursday, August 24, the security forces were able to regain the Grand Mosque in Marawi City.
Allegedly, the terrorist linked to ISIS who tried to capture the place as they have attacked it three months ago, in the Grand Mosque is where they “holed up with their hostages since clashes.”
A source from the ABS-CBN told that the troops did not find any extremists or hostages in the said place that lies in the heart of the city.
Clearing operations have been conducted on the place as of 1:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, it was earlier of this month when the ABS-CBN News caught on camera a sniper atop the mosque firing at the military troops.
The bloody battle between the militants and the military have already cost hundreds of lives may it be civilian or not.
It has started since May 23 and according to the authorities, the recovery of the Marawi is nearing.
