Gerald Anderson Now Working With Filipino Soldiers

The Filipino actor Gerald Anderson is now working with the Filipino soldiers and said that they’re glad to be in the set instead of being on the battlefield.

Gerald Randolph Anderson Jr. is a Filipino-American actor and TV personality who earned his popularity after he was named as Teen Third Big Placer on the first season of the “Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition” in 2006.

Since then, the 28-year-old actor has been featured in different TV shows and movie projects. Anderson was also able to play major characters such as his lead role in the TV series “Sana Maulit Muli,” “My Girl,” Tayong Dalawa,” and numerous TV shows.

Recently, the Fil-Am actor expressed his praises and admiration for the brave Filipino soldiers. He was also hoping that the public could see the bravery and efforts of the militaries on his upcoming action movie entitled “Awol”.

Anderson will play the role of an expert army sniper who goes on a mission to protect his family a man who wanted to kill him and his family. His new movie project was dedicated to the Filipino soldiers who were risking their lives every day in the battlefield just to protect the country.

“I offer this movie to them [soldiers] kasi kasama sila n’ung ginawa namin ‘to eh. And makita mo ‘yung saya nila na nasa shoot sila at wala sila sa bakbakan. Alam mo ‘yung parang nabigyan mo sila ng konting pahinga, konting breather, nakakatuwa,” said by Anderson quoted by Inquirer.

The actor also said that he trained together with military special force and scout rangers. He also shared that two of the soldiers during their training has already passed away due to the war in Marawi City.

He also clarified that the story of the movie doesn’t all revolve and relate on the situation in Marawi City.

“Awol” will be the Anderson’s official entry to the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino 2017. The cast includes Dianne Medina, Bernard Palanca, Richard Quan, Raymond Bagatsing, Jeric Raval, and Bembol Roco.The film was directed by Enzo Williams and produced by Skylight Films, which will be shown from August 16 to 22, 2017.
