Cebu Pacific Plane Overshoots Runway Of Mactan Airport, Leave Passengers Stranded

A Cebu Pacific plane has overshot the runway of Mactan Cebu International Airport, which caused its 435 passengers to be stranded.

On late Friday (August 04, 2017), the Cebu Pacific flight 5J570 has overshot the runway of Mactan Airport. The passengers from the said flight were transferred to flight 5J556 and had been flown to Manila as of 5:30 am on Saturday morning (August 05, 2017).

Cebu Pacific Air (CEB) explained that the nose wheel of the aircraft’s front landing gear has left the paved surface upon making an 180-degree turn while preparing for a takeoff. The airline also said that the aircraft involved in the incident will undergo inspection before using it again.

The aircraft that figured in the incident will be subjected to thorough inspection before it is used again for passenger service,” said by CEB quoted by ABS-CBN.

Mactan Cebu International Airport reopened its runway again around 10:45 pm more than four hours after the incident happened. The aircraft overshot the runway at 6:45 pm on Friday as it taxied to takeoff on the runway.

The airline also said that they will assist the necessities of the passengers and will provide free meals for all the affected passengers.
