Former President Aquino Opposes Proposed Abolition Of CHR, PCGG

Former president Benigno Aquino III was opposing the proposed abolition of the Commission on Human Rights and Presidential Commission on Good Government.

Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno has supported the announcement of the Duterte administration. He said that the agencies do nothing referring to PCGG.

President Rodrigo Duterte also threatened to dissolute the human rights commission after accusing him of violating and abusing human rights through his controversial war on drugs amid Extrajudicial Killing (EJK).

Recently, Noynoy Aquino has opposed the plan of Duterte administration to abolish PCGG for it was to run after the alleged stolen riches of the Marcos family. He said that the investigation was not done yet and might find another evidence against the accused.

Aquino also explained that the CHR was still required because people needed the human rights commission in an imperfect society. He also insists that the agency can’t be quickly abolish based on those reasons.
