As per the report posted on the Twitter account of the Inquirer, the vice president expressed her support to some of the calls of the Duterte made during his SONA.

On the report, Robredo “underscored anew the importance of human rights and the rule of the law.”

Duterte, during his SONA, he gave the illegal drugs a heavy emphasis for he believed that it is “really the root of all evil.”

And with this, the VP said, “Naniniwala tayo, tulad ng paniniwala ng ating pangulo, na kailangan talagang sugpuin iyong krimen… hindi lang nagkakatugma [iyong aming approach]. Ako po ay naniniwala sa anti-drug campaign, sa pag-aayos ng peace and order, hindi pa rin dapat labagin iyong karapatang pantao.”

And as per the rule of law, she emphasized that it is the ‘poor’s shield’ against those who tend to abuse their power.

“Kailangan iyong rule of law. Kung ano iyong nasa batas, ano iyong nasa Konstitusyon, nasusunod pa din, dahil ito  naman iyong sandata ng mahihirap nating na mga kababayan laban sa pang-aabuso ng mga nasa kapangyarihan,” she said.

Robredo, being next to the leadership of Duterte, supports some of the calls of the president that he mentioned as he delivered his address which includes the Congress to pass the National Land Use Bill, No Balance Billing Policy of PhilHealth from the previous administration, the full implementation of the Reproductive Health Bill and the aim of further protecting and preserving the environment.

Furthermore, she is also into the responsible mining and on the issue of the capital punishment or the death penalty, she ‘reiterated her stand against the reimposition of it’  but the president had already asked the Senate to pass.
