Air Canada Plane Nearly Hit 2 Planes In San Francisco
Air Canada plane carrying about 150 passengers was within 100 feet of hitting two out of four planes at San Francisco International Airport.
On Thursday (July 13, 2017), the Canadian air safety regulators released their preliminary report stating how close the Air Canada plane almost hit two planes in San Francisco, which could become as one of the worst disasters in commercial aviation history.
The pilot of the flight from Toronto mistakenly descended into the taxiway where the four planes were idling in the darkness. The jet identified as Air Canada Flight 759 had already traveled one-quarter of a mile before aborting the landing over the taxiway.
The incident was still under the investigation of the U.S authorities, which was happened last July 07, 2017. Canada’s Transportation Safety Board has also released a short summary of the incident stating the aircraft pulled up 100 feet over the first two jets, but eventually landed safely as it goes away from the two planes.
The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board spokesman Keith Holloway did not give any comment on the data from another agency. The agency also did not release further details and information regarding the incident.
In 1977, the deadliest crash in the aviation history has been recorded when a KLM Boeing 747 plowed into a Pan Am 747 upon taking off in the Canary Islands. About 583 people died in the fires and crash.
A safety consultant and retired airline pilot named John Cox said that the July 07 incident was very close to a catastrophic event. Cox was also doubting if those guys intended to land on the taxiway when they could see each other but still they got nearly crash on each other.
The controller allegedly ordered the Air Canada jet to pull up and assured it that no one is on the runway, which nearly caused a catastrophic event.
