Manny Pacquiao Urges WBO To Act Upon GAB’s Request To Review Boxing Match Result

Manny Pacquiao urged World Boxing Organization (WBO) to act upon Games and Amusement Board’s (GAB) request.

Senator Manny Pacquiao does not want to see the industry of his sport, boxing, dying, thus, he calls World Boxing Organization (WBO) to review the decision of fight against Jeff Horn based upon the request of Games and Amusement Board’s (GAB).

According to the news report released by the Inquirer, the Filipino boxing icon demands for WBO to review the result of his fight against the Australian Jeff Horn.

As mentioned on the report based on a statement released by Pacquiao on Wednesday, he said, “WBO should take appropriate action on the letter sent by the Games and Amusement Board so as not to erode the people’s interest in boxing.”

He even further stated that he had actually accepted the decision, so he indicated, “On my part, I had already accepted the decision but as a leader and, at the same time, fighter I have the moral obligation to uphold sportsmanship, truth and fairness in the eyes of the public. I love boxing and I don’t want to see it dying because of unfair decision and officiating.”

GAB chairman Abraham Mitra and two GAB commissioners wrote to WBO President Francisco Varcarcel on July 3 a letter that states request fora thorough review of the controversial “Battle of Brisbane”.

GAB is an agency of the country that regulates and supervises its professional sports.

A parcel from the letter said, “While we respect the decision, we are constrained to request for a thorough review by the WBO for possible miscalls of the referee where some deductions were not made and of the judges in their judging that have caused varying opinions on their objectivity.”

And furthermore , “We are making this request for a review, which many call for sanctions on the referee and the judges if so warranted, in furtherance of our mutual goal of protecting the integrity of the sport and even more improving the boxing industry that we all love.”
