President Duterte On 5-Day Absence For Secret Trip
President Rodrigo Duterte returned to the eye of the public after he had been away for almost five days for a secret trip.
In an interview, President Duterte explained why he had been five days away from the public’s eye. He said that he went on a secret trip outside the town to visit somewhere else and traveled like a private citizen just to reach his destination.
“The truth is I went out-of-town for a visit somewhere else, Hindi ko masabi sa inyo. But I traveled like a private citizen para lang makaabot doon sa gusto kong puntahan,” said by Duterte quoted by CNN Philippines.
The president did not also make it to the Independence Day celebration in Luneta Park in Manila because if exhaustion. Therefore, the ceremonies were led by Vice President Leni Robredo according to Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella.
On the evening of Independence Day, Mr. Duterte has honored the members of Marines who gave lose their life during the bloody siege in Marawi City between the government forces and the Maute Terror Group.
Abella also explained that the president skips the Independence Day because he was not feeling well and he lacks sleep. He also emphasized that the public has nothing to worry about the health of President Duterte.
On Thursday (June 15, 2017), the Presidential spokesperson said that Duterte was only enjoying his private time. Special Assistant to the President Bong Go has also released photos of the president working at the presidential residence in the Malacañang Palace before going to Davao City.
Mr. Duterte has described a scenario in case that something happens to him and told the public that they can use VP Leni Robredo for a change.
President Duterte admitted that he has been suffering from daily migraines and Buerger’s disease he obtained for being a heavy cigarette and tobacco smoker in the past. He also said that he was using an oxygen converter while sleeping because his brains suffer from lack of oxygenation.
