A 25-Year-Old Soldier Angelo Estores Jr. Called His Father For Help “Pa, Pray For Me” Before He Died In Marawi Clash

A courageous soldier called help from his father saying “Pa, pray for me” before he was shot dead in the midst of Marawi clash.

A 25-year-old army corporal Angelo Estores Jr. is a member of Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) 5th mechanized battalion and a father of 2 young kids. Estores died last Thursday (May 25, 2017) in the midst of his battle against the Maute terror group in Marawi City.

On Thursday afternoon around 1:00 pm, Angelo called his father Estores Sr. and asked for prayers. Jestoni Almeres, Estores’ cousin also recounted the last conversation between Angelo and his father.

“Pa, Pray mo sa ako, murag dili na madayon akong kasal, tulo na lang mi nabilin ang siyam patay na,” (Pa, you Pray for me, my wedding might not push through, only 3 of us left here, 9 of my companions are dead), said by Almeres quoted by Pinoythinking.

Estores Sr. directed his son to hide if he is already trapped and wait until the reinforcement arrives.

Angelo told his father that he is crawling towards the .50 caliber and already out of ammunition. The brave soldier also said during the phone call that his officer is already dead and the rebels were already attacking them with RPG.

Almeres narrated that while Estores Sr. was giving directions to his son on what to do, Angelo was not already answering and only gunshots can be heard. Around 3:00 pm, he kept calling his son but no one answered.

Around 6:00 pm, the classmates of Angelo message his father saying that his son was hit. On Friday (May 26, 2017), the military command center calls his father telling that “Junjun” died during the shootout.

The young soldier was about to marry the mother of his 2 young kids on June 29, 2017 in Pikit, North Cotabato, but the Marawi clash took his life. Angelo was considered by the residents of Pikit as a hero for giving his life to defend Marawi City.

  1. All I can say to this brave man is that, I really salute him for his pride and patriotic to defend our nation. May him become an inspiration to the young ones that all we need to have is UNITY. We are all Filipinos, but one thing we lack is to be united as one. Since time immemorial, we’ve been experiencing this problem.
