Scientists Accidentally Discover Cure For Baldness, Gray Hair

Cure For Baldness, Gray Hair Discovered By Scientists

The cure for baldness and gray hair was accidentally discovered by a group of scientists from the UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.

The cancer researchers were set on discovering how cancer tumors are formed. While on the process of the study, the team accidentally discovers a genetic cure for the baldness and graying of human hair. The cure was made possible after multiple experiments with lab mice.

Dr. Lu Le, associate professor of dermatology at UT Southwestern Medical Center said that lab mice became bald after removing certain cells and removing some gene in the cells make its hair turns to white.

“Although this project was started in an effort to understand how certain kinds of tumors form, we ended up learning why hair turns gray and discovering the identity of the cell that directly gives rise to hair,” said by Le quoted by Inquirer.

Le also is hoping that this technique could create a topical compound in the future, which can safely deliver the needed gene to hair follicles to address the baldness and graying of hair.

The protein called KROX20 was the main reason for turning skin cells into hair follicles. It is also a vital key to nerve development, according to the study. Hoping that through this discovery the issues on baldness and graying of hair could be resolved.
