Prosecution Opposed Cebu Road Rage Suspect David Lim’s Plan To Travel Abroad
The Cebu road rage suspect “David Lim Jr.” plan to travel abroad has been opposed by the prosecution in the criminal charges against him.
Lim’s appeal to allow him to join his family for a week-long cruise has been opposed by the camp of Ephraim Nuñal. Judge Alexander Acosta of Regional Trial Court has been asked by Mundlyn Misal-Martin, Nuñal’s lawyer to deny Lim’s motion.
The suspect wants to go on a cruise to Alaska, United States, and Vancouver, Canada with Royal Caribbean Cruise together with his family from May 26, 2017, up to June 02, 2017 as Lim’ lawyers Conrado Sarmiento Jr. and Gilbert Viloria told the court.
Lim is currently facing criminal charges in court for shooting Ephraim Nuñal, a nurse in a road rage incident last March 19, 2017. The gunman was detained but was free after posting bail amounting P120, 000 for illegal possession of firearms case and P24, 000 for the frustrated homicide case.
Judge Alexander Acosta is handling the illegal possession of firearms case, while Judge Ricky Jones Macabaya of Regional Trial Court Branch 5 is trying Lim’s homicide case.
The prosecution explained that if Lim would be allowed to go out of the country, he would be beyond the court’s reach. Lim’s intention to travel abroad was suspected by the prosecution since his case is yet to be arraigned.
“With his money and influence, it is possible that he is never going back to the country and face the allegations (against him),” said by the prosecution quoted by Sunstar.
The prosecution asked the court to decline Lim’s motion for failing to justify the urgency of the matter and explained that he has no compelling reason to go out of the country.
