Red Alert Lifted After Magnitude 7.2 Quake In Sarangani

After the magnitude 7.2 earthquake that shook the Sarangani, Red Alert status was raised by the NDRRMC.

RED ALERT – The National Risk Reduction and Management Council has lifted a red alert status after the magnitude 7.2 quake that hit the Sarangani.

According to the report of the The Philippine Star, a tsunami advisory was lifted as per the announcement of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) but the agency assured the public as well there is no threat of  tsunami.

Initial reports by particular area managers says that there were no damages in the in the airports of Davao, Zamboanga, Pagadian, Laguindingan, Ozamis and General Santos.

It has also been mentioned in the report that Malacanang is asking the residents of Sarangani to  remain calm despite the earthquake that shook them early this morning and be “vigilant and alert” as well with regards to the incident that took place.

Presidential spokesperson stated, “Our disaster officials are now conducting rapid damage (–foul word(s) removed–)sment and we assure those affected that immediate assistance will be provided.”

Based on the previous report, the earthquake shook the place at 4:23 a.m. of today with its epicenter found at 53 kilometers Southwest of Sarangani.

Phivolcs warned people about the aftershocks that may happen next after the shaking.
