A video of giant pawikan or tortoise caught by the fisher folks in the shoreline of Palawan, does it mean something else?

Tortoise is a land-dwelling reptile shielded by a shell, which protects them from predators. They were also closely related to the sea turtle and can be found in numerous countries all around the world, but mostly dwell in warmer climate regions.

Pawikan is a herbivorous type of animal, which mostly feeds weeds, gr(–foul word(s) removed–), flowers, fruits, and leafy greens. This reptile can live for over 150 years, which is near close to the lifespan of humans. The law has prohibited catching several types of tortoises.

The Facebook page “Trending Pa-More” has posted a video of a giant tortoise, which was entangled in the fishing net of the fishermen in Palawan. The fisher folks immediately released the tortoise from the net and let it freely swam away from their fishing boat.

The action of the fishermen garnered praises and admiration from the netizens. The video has a caption of “Good Job mga sir na pinakawalan nyo! Sila ay mga mangingisda from Palawan. Sana tularan din ito ng ibang mangingisda.”

The video immediately went viral after it was posted in the social media on Friday (April 28, 2017). The viral video garnered 30k views, 928 reactions, 103 shares, and 18 comments as of this post.
