‘Roland Lazenby’ Suggests New York Knicks To Hire PBA’s Tim Cone
An American basketball writer Roland Lazenby urges New York Knicks to hire the PBA coach Earl Timothy Cone or known as Tim Cone to resolve their problem.
The New York Knicks were showing poor performance during their last few games, but Lazenby believes that hiring Tim Cone on Knicks can solve their problem. He also believes that the PBA coach could help the team president Phil Jackson in guiding the players.
Jackson is having a dilemma with regards to the player’s opposing the triangle offense, which he implemented with great success.
The Knicks failed to make it to the playoffs for four consecutive seasons and in their first year under Coach Jeff Hornacek. The team experienced a series of painful defeats impaired by Jackson’s public rants on the superstar forward Carmelo Anthony.
“Phil (Jackson) would be smart to bring @manilacone (Cone’s Twitter account) to NY. He’s the ultimate triangle coach in the world today. @PhilJackson11 (Jackson’s username) should hire Coach Cone,” said by Lazenby on his social media account quoted by Manila Bulletin.
Lazenby said that Tex Winter would also tell Jackson that Cone could help NYK to understand triangle and experience it at the same time. Winter is the architect of Triangle Offense and a former assistant of Jackson. He also said that Cone is an expert when it comes to triangle/defense and could contribute much to Knicks.
Cone was now coaching “Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in the PBA, although he is flattered with Lazenby’s statement, he said that he is already contented in the PBA right now.
The PBA coach is a disciple of Triangle since he started coaching Alaska in 1989. He also stressed that he was still using the Triangle Offense philosophy even though a more liberalized system at Ginebra was implemented.
