Tropical Depression “Crising” Signals & Updates ( April 15, 2017)

Signal number 1 has been raised to 17 areas in the country as Tropical Depression “Crising” moves closer to the country on Black Saturday, April 15, 2017.

In its latest weather update, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the Tropical Depression Crising moves with maximum sustained winds of up to 45 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 55 kph. Crising is forecast to move west-northwest at 20kp according to the state bureau.

The state bureau noted that the center of Tropical Depression Crising was recorded at 155 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar.

In a press briefing, the state bureau announced that Tropical Depression Crising is expected to make landfall this afternoon, particularly in Samar.

Meanwhile, Signal Number 1 has been raised in following areas.

  • Sorsogon
  • Burias island
  • Romblon
  • Masbate
  • Ticao island
  • Aklan
  • Antique
  • Iloilo
  • Capiz
  • Northern Cebu
  • Northern Negros Occidental
  • Northern Samar
  • Eastern Samar
  • Samar
  • Biliran
  • Leyte
  • Southern Leyte.

Pagasa cautioned the public that some areas may experience landslides and flashfloods. Those who were off for a vacation this Holy Week are also advised to plan their trips or if they tend to leave or travel the said areas.

Meanwhile, based on a report published by Inquirer.net, rains and gusty winds will endure until Tuesday, April 18, 2017. The phenomenon will not only affect Visayas but also Luzon particularly Metro Manila.
