Spanish Guy Jonathan “Johnny” Barnreuther Apologizes To Filipinos For The Abuse, Wrong Doings, And Murder Committed By His Ancestors

A Spanish guy named Jonathan “Johnny” Barnreuther has apologized to the Filipinos for the wrong doings of his ancestors over 3 centuries ago.

Barnreuther, a man from Madrid, Spain has visited the country from April 1 up to April 09, 2017. On the last day of his vacation in the Philippines, he went to Kawit, Cavite for a very important mission.

The Spanish guy has gathered some leaders in Cavite together in the exact place where the Independence was declared by the Philippine on June 12, 1898. Johnny asked for forgiveness for the murder, wrong doings, abuse, and cruelty of Spaniards toward Filipinos.

Countries like Japan and the U.S. have sent their leaders to the Philippines in the past to ask for forgiveness for what they have done to this country, but Spain has never sent an official leader to repent,” said by Barnreuther on his Facebook post.

The Spaniard has held the flag of the Philippines as a sign of respect and humility for the nation and humbly gave the flag to the region leaders while kneeling on his knees and bowing his head.

Spain has ruled the Philippines over three centuries ago and Filipinos have severely suffered its terrible colonization. The new generation can’t feel the anger and hatred towards Spaniards, but still, Spanish culture can be seen in our language, beliefs, food, and much more.
