The Philippine Women Football Team was triumphant in their draw battle against Bahrain.
The Philippine Women’s Football Team was victorious after their win against Bahrain where the two teams battled a 1-1 draw.
The Philippines versus Bahrain game in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifier was held at Dushanbe, Tajikistan, 10:00 P.M. (Philippine Time) last April 10.
According to a news report in Rappler, it was 3rd straight win of the team after the 4-0 triumph against UAE and Iraq on Monday and Wednesday respectively.
Bahrain is on their way struggling for a spot in order to be qualified at the finals but the Pinay Team just won’t let it happen.
Claire Lim and Eva Madarag was able to kick a notch and was able to do decent strikes.
Fueled with perseverance and determination, they ran the breaks when Anicka Castañeda hit the ball and contribute a score at the 82nd minute. And the Pinay team won the match out and secured a place for the finals.
Based on the report of AFC Women’s Asian Cup, Philippines coach Letecia Bautista said, “It was a crazy match. It was like playing for the title.”
She even added that they have wanted it more so they were able to bounce back and she was just thankful for the win.
It is the first time of the Philippines to be qualified at the AFC Women’s Cup after their previous win on 2003.
Khaled Mohamed Harban, head coach of the opposing team, stated, “We studied the Philippines team very carefully ahead of today’s match.We figured out their strengths and how to play against them. We tried our best.”
Currently, the Philippines football team has 10 points from their three wins and one draw.
The Jordan football team, who is now at the first spot will protect their place against the Philippines on Wednesday.
The 2018 AFC Women’s Asian Cup will happen next year in Jordan.
