Girl Found Living in a Forest in India With a Group of “Monkeys”

A girl who is believed to be 10 to 12 years old was found living in a forest in India with a group of “monkeys.”

According to a report published by The Associated Press, she was “wearing no clothes and was emaciated” when the Indian police discovered her early last January.

She was then rushed to a hospital in Bahraich, a town in Uttar Pradesh state in northern India.

D.K. Singh, chief medical superintendent of the government-run hospital told the reporters that the girl behaved exactly like an animal. She eats her meal off the floor with her mouth and runs on her arms and legs.

But after a treatment, she began to behave like a normal child. She now eats her food with her hands and run and walk like any other child.

“She is still not able to speak, but understands whatever you tell her and even smiles,” Singh noted.

Police officer Dinesh Tripathi said in an interview that one of the woodcutters spotted the girl roaming, along with group of monkeys.

“They said the girl was naked and was very comfortable in the company of monkeys. When they tried to rescue the girl, they were chased away by the monkeys,” said Tripathi.

“When he called the girl, the monkeys attacked him but he was able to rescue the girl. He sped away with her in his police car while the monkeys gave chase,” Tripathi added noting that she was rescued later by a police officer in the Katarniya Ghat forest range.

As of today, the authorities are trying to the identify the identity of the girl including her parents.
