Nearly 600, 000 Asthma Inhalers In U.S Recalled By British Drug Maker
A British drugmaker recalls the nearly 600, 000 asthma inhalers after receiving complaints about product leakage and packaging.
The 593, 000 asthma inhalers from the pharmacies, hospitals, wholesalers and retailers in the United States was recalled by a British drug maker after receiving numerous complaints about its package and leakage.
GlaxoSmithKline plc, a British pharmaceutical company said that they were receiving complaints that their Ventolin asthma inhaler contains smaller doses of the medicine compared to the indicated one. The issues regarding the inhaler do not contain any danger to patients and users.
The consumers of the asthma inhaler were not instructed to return the product the issues does not affect the patient’s health, but it refers to the insufficient dosage contained by the product. The recall has been approved the U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The company is now working to determine the main cause of the issue, but the main plant of the company is continuing to produce asthma inhalers, according to GSK.
“We currently don’t anticipate a supply impact to Ventolin HFA 200D inhaler as a result of this issue,” said by GSK in a statement quoted by fox10phoenix.
Asthma inhaler is hand-held portable devices that were used to relieve asthma attacks and control its symptoms. It contains an asthma medicine, which can be release by placing it into the mouth and pushing the canister into the boot.
