Duterte made the announcement right after his Cabinet meeting held at the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.

“You’re fired. I simply said, you’re fired,” Duterte disclosed.

According to a report from Philstar.com, Duterte did not mention who’s the potential prospect to replace the vacant post but among those reportedly eyed by his excellency is Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos who was defeated by VP Leni Robredo in May 2016 vice presidential elections.

“I lost my temper,” Duterte pronounced. “If you answer me… that you never read the opinion of your legal officer of your own office, it’s either you are taking me for stupid, an idiot or you are lying through your teeth.”

The 16th president of the Republic of the Philippines was referring to the claim of Ismael Sueno regarding the legal opinion on the said contract for the acquisition of fire trucks from Austria.

Ismael Sueno was the second Cabinet official fired by Duterte in less than a year following Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Perfecto Yasay Jr.

“President Duterte has dismissed Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Mr. Ismael Sueno, citing loss of trust and confidence,” Presidential spokesman Ernesto Abella on the other hand said.

“The President had earlier asked a few questions of Mr. Sueno but the summary dismissal served as a warning that Mr. Duterte would not countenance any questionable or legally untenable decisions by any member of the Cabinet,” Abella added.

“The secretary had, in fact, been instrumental in convincing the President to run for election, but this did not deter the President from pursuing his drive for a trustworthy government by addressing issues like corruption,” the Presidential spokesman said.
