Conflict Between Alvarez, Floreindo Jr. Joined By Their Women
Women express support to their men regarding the graft charges filed by House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez and Rep. Antonio Floreindo Jr.
Alvarez filed graft charges against Floreindo Jr. over an alleged conflict of interest in the latter’s lease of government land for his banana company.
On Thursday (March 30, 2017), Assistant Finance Secretary Paola Alvarez, daughter of Alvarez was shocked and described the graft issue by Cathy Binag, Floreindo’s live-in-partner as crass and juvenile.
Binag said in a statement that the crack in the relationship between the two staunch allies of the president started when Emily, Alvarez’s wife, and their children seek help from the over the speaker’s womanizing and worsen by graft issues.
The House Speaker said that the section 3(h) of the Ani-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act was violated by Floreindo last 2003 over his anomalous transaction for his banana plantation. Alvarez was also seeking for a congressional inquiry over the issues.
Floreindo said that he is willing to face the case and allegations against him. He also believes that the accusations will be easily disproved and declined the reports over his alleged involvement on ouster moves against the House Speaker.
Floreindo also contributed almost 5th or P75-M of P376-million campaign funds used by Mr. Duterte for his presidential bid.
Previously, netizens have criticized Alvarez over an extramarital affair and called him ‘hypocrite’ for his statement against Senator Leila De Lima for having an affair with her former bodyguard and driver.
“Here is a woman pretending to be clean, pretending to be a crime buster, a graft buster, a self-proclaimed righteous individual—we need to show the people her true character,” said by Alvarez last November 2016 quoted by Inquirer.
Alvarez said that he never condemned De Lima’s affair with a married and denied being inconsistent on his stand.
