JUST IN: Robredo to Accept Duterte’s Dinner Invitation

Vice President Leni Robredo is set to accept President Rodrigo Duterte’s dinner invitation.

According to a report published by Inquirer.net, Leni Robredo sees the gesture of his excellency as ” extending a hand” for reconciliation.

“He’s the President extending a hand… [so] your assumption is always that he has good intentions, right?” This was her statement with regards to the allegations of Senator Antonio Trillanes IV who earlier stated that the invitation might be a “trap”.

During a radio interview via dzMM, the vice president admitted that President Duterte might have a covert motive upon inviting her over a dinner.

“But the way I look at it, at the end of the day, we were both elected. We were given the mandate to serve the people, and it’s our obligation to find common ground even though we may disagree on some matters,” she stated.

Duterte was able to invite Robredo over a dinner in a rare occasion they’re together, during the commencement exercises of Philippine National Police Academy.

The relationship between the country’s most powerful leaders has been fraught after the latter, whose a former chairperson of Liberal Party sent a video message to United Nations which criticized the current administration’s war against drugs which claimed thousand of lives.

Meanwhile, during their meeting last Saturday, the two officials denied being the component of each other’s impeachment complaint.

Earlier, Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez filed an impeachment complaint against Leni Robredo claiming that the latter betrayed the public trust upon submitting a video message to UN.
