VP’s Camp Shows Robredo’s Letter To PNP, DILG Before Her Controversial EJK Video Message
The copy of the letter sent by Vice President Leni Robredo to PNP and DILG before her controversial EJK video message has been showed by her camp.
On Monday (March 20, 2017), Barry Gutierrez, Robredo’s legal consultant showed the letter sent by Robredo to the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) before releasing her controversial video regarding concern over Duterte’s war on drugs.
PNP Chief Ronald “Bato, ” dela Rosa said that the Office of the Vice President did not communicate with PNP before Robredo’s video message raising issues and controversies regarding the victims of the Extrajudicial Killing (EJK) in the country.
But, Gutierrez said that PNP did receive their letter but they did not act on it. The letter was sent last January 24, 201, and was addressed to Interior Secretary Ismael “Mike” Sueno. On January 30, 2017, Sueno’s office and Dela Rosa’s office received the letter.
On Monday, Dela Rosa claimed that the Robredo failed to express her concern on the anti-illegal drug campaign before sending the video message, which was addressed to foreign delegates who attended the United Nations-sponsored conference in Austria last week.
Dela Rosa denied receiving the letter and said that Robredo’s camp statement just came up after PNP reacted on her wrong concept of “Palit-Ulo” (Head Swapping).
“It’s incumbent on them to explain how come they received a letter and yet more than a month there’s no response, in addition to that, they’re even denying that they received the letter,” said by Gutierrez quoted by Inquirer.
PNP also expressed their disappointment on Robredo’s video message. Robredo’s video message said that many citizens approached her and expressed their concerns regarding Duterte’s blood war on drugs. She also said that her video will allow her to effectively address the concern raised by the citizen.
