Around 10K Negrenses Opposing HFCS, United In One Voice Saying “No To Coke”

“No to Coke,” was the voice of around 10, 000 people from Bacolod, Negros Occidental protesting rally in front of Coca-Cola Bottlers, Phils. Bacolod Plant on Monday (March 20, 2017).

Coke is one of the most popular brands of soft drinks here in the Philippines because of its delicious taste and thirst quenching abilities. The Filipinos were also one of the top consumers of Coke all around the world.

But Coke was linked to the development of numerous types of diseases including high blood sugar level leading to diabetes. Many people were claiming that using High-Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) instead of sugar contains more negative effects on the body’s health.

In Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, about 10, 000 Negrenses went to the Coca-Cola plant protesting and rallying. They were lifting their banners and placards saying “No HFCS” and “No to Coke,” which will both cause unemployment for sugarcane workers and harmful effects to the body.

The protesters were urging the public to stop buying Coca-Cola products when the popular soft drinks company stats to use HFCS, which has can cause several types of diseases. The militants are united in opposing HCFS and have a one voice saying “Boycott Coke!”
