NBI Agents Found Ford Mustang Allegedly Owned By Romanian Skimmers Found On Their Condominium

A newly bought Ford Mustang sports car was found in a condominium in Barangay Lahug, Cebu where the 3 Romanian skimmers were staying.

Previously, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI-7) nabbed the 3 Romanian nationals who allegedly victimized LandBank active clients, law enforcers and retired government employees through skimming the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) to get a large amount of cash from their bank accounts. LandBank of the Philippines is a bank owned by the government.

The suspect was traced using the captured footage the bank’s camera, but the Cebu City Police Officer Director Joel Doria said they have difficulties in resolving the case because the bank declines to release the video of their security footage.

One of the suspects was identified as Lonup Alesandrou together with his 2 unnamed conspirators. The authorities said that the I.T expert among the suspects was already taken into custody. The security cameras of LandBank of the Philippines’ Mandaue captured the faces of the suspects.

Regional Trial Court Judge Generosa Labra has issued the search warrant against the suspects and ordered armed NBI agents to enter the Romanian national’s room in Barangay Lahug condominium and recovered the suspects devices, which are used in skimming ATMs.

Aside from the alleged skimming devices used by the suspects in committing robbery. On Friday (March 17, 2017), a newly bought worth P2 million Ford Mustang sports car has found by the authorities parked in the condominium, where the skimmers were staying.

LandBank confirmed that 50 accounts were compromised and 2, 000 other accounts were blocked as safety precautions due to skimming incident.

The skimming incident should serve as a warning for the bank account holders should being extra careful upon withdrawing cash, keeping confidential information privately, being observant, frequent checking of cash, and reporting any suspicious people or thing while withdrawing cash in the ATM.
