Revelations About Duterte Family During Martial Law

Mrs. Soledad Roa-Duterte or Nanay Soling, the mother of President Rodrigo Duterte served as a leader of the “Yellow Friday Movement,” a series of anti-Marcos protest in Davao City. President Duterte confirmed this statement in one of his interviews last year saying that his mother led the group opposing Marcos’ regime.
Eleanor “Baby” Duterte also released a statement, which corroborated with Rodrigo’s statement. Baby said that her mother doesn’t like the “Martial Law” because of its inhumane activities even before Cory Aquino’s ‘Yellow Friday’.
Soledad has the great courage to speak out the government’s wrongful actions towards its people. Baby also said that there were groups who only wants freedom from slavery, secure their properties and families from abusive military forces.
Baby also said that Duterte’s political career started because of Cory Aquino. After the Martial Law, Cory aims to form a government in Davao City and appoint her mother to be the mayor of the said province.
Soledad declines Aquino’s offer and points her son Rodrigo to be the mayor, who is a prosecutor. Duterte family has been already a political family because of Governor Vicente Duterte, the father of Rodrigo.

Mr. Duterte’s mother was one of the prominent Davaoeños who dared to oppose Marcos’ dictatorship. She hates Marcos actions of using his authority to abuse other people.
Luz Ilagan said that Soledad once gave Juan Ponce Enrile, the former defense minister of Marcos, a mouthful during Enrile’s speech showing his power and speaking the benefits of Martial Law.
Marcos also attempted to silence Soledad through her son, but Rodrigo refused to stop his mother. The president refused to stop his mother saying that it is impossible for a son to teach his own mother a lesson.
Governor Vicente Duterte was a cabinet member of Marcos administration but resigned from his post for the graft and corruption happening in the government under Marcos’ dictatorship, according to Baby for she was her father’s private secretary.
