Informal Settlers Will Not Be Tolerated For Occupying Houses In Bulacan, Duterte Says
President Rodrigo Duterte said that he won’t tolerate the informal settlers who occupied the government houses in Bulacan.
On Monday (March 13, 2017), the president said that the informal settlers who forcibly took over the government houses in Pandi, Bulacan without the permission and consent of the authorities will not be tolerated by the authorities for their wrongful actions.
Previously, the housing projects in Pandi and San Jose Del Monte in Bulacan has been occupied by around 4, 000 people led by the group “Kadamay.” Their actions were triggered by the government’s negligence of their housing needs.
The president warns the homeless families that he may use force to settle the issue between the National Housing Authority (NHA) and informal settlers’ in Bulacan.
“If you want to ignore the law, you cannot do that. I will (use) the force (to resolve) the issue with eviction. Tutal, kung gusto man niyo, huwag mo lang akong ipalagay sa alanganin,” said by Duterte quoted by ABS-CBN.
Mr. Duterte also said that he will not think twice to use force just to settle the issue even if it costs his popularity because it was an embarrassment to put the Philippine government in this situation. He promised the informal settlers that the government has enough fund to resolve their shelter needs.
