President Duterte Urged By Fr. Reyes To Avoid Cursing During 40 Days Of Lenten Season

Fr. Robert Reyes advised President Rodrigo Duterte to avoid cursing and temporarily stop killings during 40 days of the Lenten season.

President Duterte is very popular worldwide for his unusual demeanor such as cursing and sudden outburst. His rude attitude towards against international leaders and other human rights organization garnered different opinion from Filipino people and other nationals.

His anti-illegal drug campaign becomes one of the most controversial issues of 2016. Duterte’s war on drugs raised the concern of different human rights organization regarding the Extrajudicial Killings (EJK) nationwide, which killed almost 7, 000 people.

Lenten Season

Fr. Reyes advised the president to avoid cursing and to temporarily stop the killings during the Lenten season. It is quite related to his earlier statement urging the President Duterte to keep silent before entering the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center in Camp Crame before conducting the mass.

Meanwhile, Senator Leila De Lima brought to tears while giving her homily during the mass. This the second time that the priest conducts a mass inside the custodial center. Fr. Reyes also served as the spiritual adviser of the senator and De Lima was always in tears while the priest is preaching.

The senator was in good condition inside the prison and gradually accepting her fate. As of now, Senator De Lima is concern about her weight, so she is finding a way to perform her daily exercise.

Lenten Season

De Lima was also hoping that she can get out of prison after Good Friday. The senator was also expecting that the Supreme Court (SC) will grant the another Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) filed by the camp of De Lima.
