The 89th Academy awards have caught the attention of the netizens after it was treated to its own ‘Steve Harvey moment’ after La La Land mistakenly announced as Best Picture winner over moonlight.

Chaos ensued onstage after it was found out that presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway mistakenly announced the wrong winner.

Producers La La Land were nearly done with their speeches when a stir of whispers began on stage. Moments later the producer Jordan Horowitz returned to the microphone and said  “Moonlight won Best Picture” and insisting that “this is not a Joke.”

Host Jimmy Kimmel tried to lighten up the situation by name-dropping fellow host Steve Harvey.

“I blame Steve Harvey for this,” he quipped.

As the audience applauded, open-mouthed, Host Jimmy Kimmel also tried to explain what had happened, before Warren Beatty took the Mic.

Beatty apologized for the mixed up by saying he read Emma Stone’s name in the envelope and wasn’t sure if it was correct.

When the cast, producers and other representatives realized the mistake, they raced onstage to right it. The result was a bizarre scene because the entire cast of both movies is standing together on stage exchanging sympathetic awkward stares and hugs.

The awkward scene immediately evoked Steve Harvey’s recent gaffe of naming the wrong Miss Universe winner.

According to the report of Fox news, the official accountant of the Oscars, Price Waterhouse Coopers, gave her the wrong envelope.

“We sincerely apologized to ‘ Moonlight,’ ‘La La Land,’ Warren Beatty, Faye Dunaway, and  Oscars viewers for the error that was made during the award announcement for  Best Picture,” the firm said in a statement.

According to the statement, the presenters had mistakenly been given the wrong category. They are now currently investigating about what happened.

After what happened, La La Land didn’t go home empty-handed because it won the award for best production design, best original score, best original song and best cinematography. In addition, Emma Stone bagging the award for best actress for her role in the critically acclaimed musical.

It was considered as one of the most awkward moments in the history of the Academic award.
