Philippines – Binibining Pilipinas 2017 Pageant initially selected 55 out of 98 beauty queens for the much-awaited beauty pageant in the country.
Beauty pageants have become a popular contest among Filipinos. From local barangay beauty contest to international pageants, Filipinos have made Pageants as part of the country’s cultural events.
But when did the country’s passion for Beauty pageant begin?
When Pia Wurtzbach brought back the Miss Universe crown in 2015 she received a hero’s welcome in the country. It was a day of national pride for the Filipinos.
After 42 years, a Filipina brought home the crown the most coveted crown in the biggest beauty pageant of the universe.
Beauty pageants became known in the country after Filipinos began to participate and win in international pageants such as miss universe and miss international.
With the impressive performance of the Filipino beauty queens in international tilts, and fielded formidable aspirants for this year’s edition of the Binibining Pilipinas pageant.
While thousands of hopefuls climber for the chance to wear the crown, it is an undertaking for the light-hearted and the path to becoming a beauty queen is not easy.
In a recent report of ABS-CBN news, out of 95 hopefuls, only 55 are selected by the Binibining Pilipinas 2017 pageant.
In a tight race among pageant repeaters, fresh faces, and cross-over beauties from other competitions, only 55 were selected to have the chance to win the coveted crown.
Included in the pageant are the repeaters Mariel de Leon, and Binibining 2nd runner-up Jheza Huelar.
There are also some title holders just like Miss Earth 2012 Stephanie Stefanowitz, Miss World Philippines 4th princess Rachel Peters, Miss Philippines Air 2015 Chanel Olive Thomas, and Miss Global Philippines 2014 runner-up Siren Sutton.
Because of the booming industry that the Philippines has developed, beauty queens will go through intensive training schedules that cover everything from learning how to do the catwalk, style and most especially to answer the question and answer portion.
For the participants and fans, beauty queens are more than just entertainment and being a pretty face. That’s why the pageant will be about cracking the tough round of question and answers with conviction.
