President Duterte Threatens Tax Evaders That He Might End Up Killing Them
On Monday (February 06, 2017) President Rodrigo Duterte threatens tax evaders that he might end up killing them if they will not pay their taxes properly.
The president emphasized the importance of paying the taxes properly during the launch of Hardin ng Lunas at the Presidential Security Group compound in Malacañang. He explained that the Filipino collectible revenues are needed in order to run the Philippine government.
Also, during the kickoff of the tax campaign of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) at the Philippine International Convention Center, President Duterte some of the biggest taxpayers of the country including business tycoons Lance Gokongwei and Michael V. Pangilinan.
Mr. Duterte also assured that there will be no corruption will happen during his entire 6-year term. He also advised the public to be more aware and observant on the progress of government’s projects.
The president urged the public to “slap and curse” corrupt government officials. He also explained to the public that as long as the people were paying their taxes properly on time, the projects and innovations will continue to improve the country’s economy.
He also discussed his bloody crackdown on drugs, corruption in the government, and his personal relationship with his Cabinet members instead of having a closer look at the tax reforms.
Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III was also asked by Mr. Duterte regarding of what he should say on the BIR event. “Sonny, what should I tell them? You sons of (–foul word(s) removed–)es, pay up or I will kill you?” said by Duterte quoted Inquirer.
His line draws laughter from the audience and he also told his audience that they should not believe his story because tax evaders are not criminals.
