9 COPS – Regional Internal Affairs Service (RIAS) 7 Chief Senior Supt. Jonas Ejoc expressed that they have discovered that there are some policemen owning several cars which are not declared in their Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth.

Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte has always been vocal regarding his desire to end the presence of illegal drugs in the Philippines. During the election campaign, the 71-year-old former Mayor of Davao City has even vowed to clean the country within three to six months.

However, recently, the 71-year-old tough-talking President decided to suspend the war on drugs campaign and to give attention to the cleansing of the national police force.

The move came after an alleged kidnapping and killing of a Korean businessman, Jee Ick Joo, happened. Reportedly, there were police officials who were allegedly involved in the incident.

Based on a previous news report, the Chief Executive has lambasted the cops for being corrupt. He tagged the policemen as ‘corrupt to the core’ during a press conference held on January 29.

The President has ordered Philippine National Police Chief Director Gen. Ronald ‘Bato’ dela Rosa to review the reinstatement of the police officers who were dismissed from duties due to alleged misconduct.

Recently, a news report entailing a part of the PNP cleansing broke in. Based on a news report in Sunstar, nine police officers are facing charges due to luxurious lifestyles which are not given explanations.

Regional Internal Affairs Service (RIAS) 7 Chief Senior Supt. Jonas Ejoc said that the complaints, administrative and criminal, were filed before the Office of the Deputy Ombudsman for the Military and Other Law Enforcement Offices according to the news report.

Out of the nine respondents, one is a police non-commissioned officer (PNCO). The rest were commissioned officers as stated in the report. The unnamed cops were moved to Camp Crame after they have been relieved from the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7.

“We have found out they have lots of cars that they did not declare in their SALN (Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth),” the RIAS 7 chief said.

Meanwhile, IAS Insp. Gen. Alfegar Triambulo expressed appreciation of the move of Ejoc. He noted that RIAS 7 is the first office to file complaints against cops who may have an involvement in unlawful activities.
