Miss Universe 2016 candidates shine in Davao Fashion show.
65th Miss Universe Candidates walked the runway of Davao City wearing the dresses made of Mindanaoan textiles for a Fashion show.
The show was entitled as the “Mindanao Tapestry.” The candidates of the International pageant wowed the crowd during the tapestry show that featured creations by Rene Salud and Davao designers.
According to the report of ABS-CBN news, the clothes at the fashion show were made of cloth woven by Mindanao tribeswomen.

The Miss Universe Organization said that the fashion show in Davao City gave the candidates an overview of the culture that the Philippines has.
This is also a way to help them to learn more about the country where the reigning Miss Universe 2015 and Cagayan De Oro Native Pia Wurtzbach was raised in.
According to the report, the delegates showcases the works of the Minadanao-based designers and weavers. The outfits of featured a motif that represents the rich culture, beauty, and tradition of Mindanao.
In an interview with Rene Salod by ABS-CBN news, he described the fashion show as a great opportunity to show and promote the Mindanao creations and weavers all over the world.
“I’ve done a lot of fashion shows all over the world and I was able to promote the weavers of Mindanao. It is one of the most applauded and I believe with the right attitude and with the right discipline …we will achieve to be global and we [will] have a very good market,” Salud explained.
During the fashion show, the candidates of the Miss Universe 2016 were reportedly divided into five segments that features the fabrics from each region of Mindanao.
