President Barack Obama went emotional in his farewell speech in front of the Chicago crowd

CHICAGO, United States of America – The first black American president, Barack Obama, has bidden goodbye as the Chief Executive of the dubbed as most powerful country in the world in a moving and emotional farewell message.

The emotional outgoing president sought to comfort a nation on edge over rapid changes in the economy, persistent security threats and the election of billionaire Donald Trump.

The valedictory speech of Obama in his hometown of Chicago was a public meditation on the many trials the United States faces as he takes his exit as President-elect Trump enters the White House on January 20.

For the challenges that are new to their nation, he offered his vision for how to overcome them, and for the persistent problems Obama was unable to surmount, he presented positivism that others will.

Obama told the crowd of about 18 thousand countrymen, “Yes, our progress has been uneven. The work of democracy has always been hard, contentious and sometimes bloody”.

He admitted that for every couple of steps forward, their nation seems to take a step back but Obama argued that his faith in America had only been made stronger by what he has witnessed in the past eight years in two terms as President.

He then declared that the future belong to the Americans.

President Obama, brushing away tears with a hanky, paid a tribute to the sacrifices made by his First Lady Michelle, praising her for taking on her role “with grace and grit and style and good humor”. He also thanked Michelle for making the White House a place that belongs to each and every American.

He also paid tribute to his two daughters – Maila Ann and Sasha – who also had their own share of sacrifices, when they started to live at the White House on Pennsylvania as young girls, and from where they would leave as young ladies.

But he later pacified the nation, reminding them that one of the great strengths that the American nation has is the peaceful transfer of power from one president to the next, who is going to lead the most powerful nation in the next four years.
