Critical of the Duterte administration, Facebook pages “Madam Claudia:, “Assortedge” and “Mr. Obosen”, were hit by another round of takedowns
THREE Facebook pages were taken down in another round of online wrestling against those who are against the leadership of Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
Facebook pages “Madam Claudia:, “Assortedge” and “Mr. Obosen” were shut down after they posted a photo of a bank check allegedly issued to entertainer and blogger Mocha Uson, who openly supports President Duterte.
One of the pages taken down, Madam Claudia, posted the photo which reportedly originated from Jeremy Lubayo whose Facebook account has since been deactivated.
The photo was captioned in Filipino language, saying: “Di ko posana ilalabas ito pero para po sa katotohanan. Ito po iyong cheke na ibinigay kay Mocha Uson noong December (I did not want to release this but this is for the sake of truth. This is the check given to Mocha Uson in December)”.
The caption also read that the Facebook user did not want to identify who gave the check to Uson because it was a prominent person.
The posts on the said Facebook pages allege that the signature matches that of Former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. It was made out to a certain “Margaux Uson” (Mocha’s real name), with an amount of P300 thousand.
Uson immediately responded to the allegations, pressing that the check does not contain her full name. She even challenged those who posted the image on social media to surface even as she asked her followers to report the posts.
Madam Claudia, which was previously taken down in the social media stream, was once again wrestled on January 4 evening but was back up the following day.
Also taken down, Mr. Obosen, has created a new page named Mr. Obosen Obosen while Assortedge had over 40 thousand likes at the time it was taken down.
Since the Duterte administration has assumed the Philippine government, takedowns of Faceboom pages via mass reporting is something common.
Facebook pages of journalist Inday Espina-Varona and writer Sass Sasot, who are followers of President Duterte have been taken down in the past.
Mass reporting can haply be an organized effort among netizens who share the same sentiments over posts on social media. A group called “Duterte Cyber Warriors” reportedly engages in “OPLAN Cyber Tokhang” to attack pages and individuals through mass reporting, which result to pages takedown.
