Duterte Apologized Before Country’s Top Businessmen For Saying Bad Words
President Rodrigo Duterte apologized to the Filipinos for his unpleasant and bad words, explaining that he’s not disciplined enough by his parents.
On Monday night (December 19, 2016), Duterte said “Sorry for my bad words” during his speech before the country’s top businessmen at Malacañang Palace. Social Weather Stations (SWS) recent survey shows that many Filipinos finds Duterte’s demeanor unpleasant.
The survey was taken from almost 1, 500 Filipinos last December 03 to 06, 2016. Around 51 percent of the Filipinos said that Duterte’s cursing in public and foreign officials can affect the relation of the Philippines to the other countries. While, 33 percent of having different opinion, despite the “very good” satisfaction rating of the president.
Duterte apologized for his bad words before the country’s top businessmen including chairman of giant telco Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) and Manny V. Pangilinan, chief executive of the Hong Kong-listed holding firm First Pacific Co. Ltd. The apology of the president happened during the Christmas town hall meeting at the palace.
Universal Robina Corp.’s Robina Gokongwei, Raul Concepcion, chairman and CEO of appliance maker Concepcion Industries, Philippine Airlines’ top honcho Lucio Tan, and Teresita Sy-Coson, vice chair of department-store-based SM Investments Corp. were also an audience and they have promised to support the restoration of Sulu province in Mindanao, which devastated by war.
President Duterte defended his distasteful remarks against US President Barack Obama, EU, and other human rights groups for criticizing his war on drugs amid Extrajudicial Killings (EJK) incidents in the Philippines.
The president usually saying the words including “stupid,” “fool,” and “crazy” for expressing his disappointments on some personalities and several events linked to illegal drugs. Duterte said that he needs to those in protecting the Filipinos.
“I have to preserve the country. It’s actually a self-preservation thing. It does not need any Constitution to say to protect your people,” said by Duterte quoted by Philstar. Even the president was used to curse in expressing his disappointments, he is able to apologize for his bad words.
