Former Binibining Pilipinas candidate and her lesbian partner were arrested in Sampaluc, Manila during a drug bust operation.

The former beauty queen was identified as Marife Garlit.

The couple was nabbed for using the illegal drugs.

The drug bust operation was conducted at around 2:30 p.m. on Monday and the main target was Rival – considered as one of the top drug pushers in Sampaloc, Manila.

The authorities arrested the couple for drug possession in a drug bust operation.

In a recent news report of Inquirer.net, Chief Inspector Wilfredo Sy confirmed the news by saying, the authorities arrested a former beauty queen and her lesbian partner in a police operation.

Chief Inspector Sy identified the couple as, Former Binibining Pilipinas candidate Marife Garlit, 46 and her female partner, Ma. Lovella Rival, 43.

Sy, who heads Criminal Investigation and Detection Group – Manila, said Garlit, was known as a drug user in the area. But her partner was reportedly ranked number three on their list of target personalities who have been peddling drugs in Sampaloc area.

Reports said, the authorities allegedly seized four sachets of suspected shabu and P100 bill marked money from Rival and an improvised burner, a small transparent plastic sachet, cutter, and scissor, meanwhile, were allegedly seized from Garlit.

The former beauty queen was reportedly caught in the act of using illegal drugs when they were arrested by the police during the drug bust operation.

Marife Garlit, 46 was a former contestant in the 1992 Binibining Pilipinas pageant. She and her lesbian partner were nabbed in a drug bust operation that was conducted at around 2:30 p.m. on Monday.

In an interview with the couple, both admitted of using drugs and confirmed their pending case but they denied selling them.

“That’s not true. I’m a user but I never sold drugs,” Rival said.

Sy said that Rival will face a non-bailable case for drug peddling while Garlit will be charged with drug possession.
