Lawmakers focus on ‘De Lima-Dayan Affair’ during House hearing was described by Vice President Leni Robredo as an act of harassment.
On Thursday (November 25, 2016), VP Robredo said that several lawmakers during the House hearing ask irrelevant and unnecessary questions to De Lima. She described the act of the lawmakers as a form of harassment.
The questions were unnecessary because it was not relevant to the topic anymore. The questions should only focus on the involvement of Senator Leila De Lima and her former driver and bodyguard Ronnie Dayan on illegal drug trade happened inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP).
Robredo made the statement on the sidelines of the Philippine Commission on Women;s launch of its 18-day campaign against violence against women. The vice president said that the lawmakers did not respect De Lima through their unnecessary questions. She also explained that what happened on De Lima’s hearing at the House of Representatives can be considered as a form of harassment.
