Power, Scope Of PCGG To Expand By President Duterte
President Rodrigo Duterte would like to expand the scope and power of the Presidential Commission on Good Governance (PCGG).
On Wednesday (November 23, 2016), the scope and power of PCGG would like to expand by the president, for the agency previously focused on recovering the hidden wealth of the Marcoses. The president made his statement on amid protests over the ‘surprise’ burial of Marcos remains at the “Libingan ng mga Bayani.”
Duterte arrived at the Davao City International Airport after his trip to Peru and New Zealand and was quickly asked in a news conference “if he made any directive to the agency to pursue the recovery of Marcos’ hidden wealth. The president answered that he didn’t make any directive to the PCGG regarding that case instead, he will expand the scope and power of the agency.
The president was urged by Activist and former Bayan Muna Rep. Satur Ocampo, who had a good relationship with Marcoses, to push PCGG in pursuing the recovery of Marcos ill-gotten wealth.
