Duterte Ready To Welcome Refugees Until Philippines Is “Filled To The Brim”

The Philippine President assured the refugees that the country is willing to welcome them until the Philippines is ‘filled to the brim’.

The Philippines is ready to welcome the refugees from war-torn countries “until the country is filled to the brim”, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte said on November 17, Thursday.

During an interview with “101 East” aired in Al Jazeera on Thursday, President Duterte said that this time, his critics from the West could learn from the Philippines in the aspect of giving a helping hand to the refugees.

The 16th Philippine President said the refugees could always come to the Philippines for the country is ready to lend them a home.

In a speech last September, the tough-talking chief executive had called the European Union and the United States hypocrites after they aired concerns on extrajudicial killings and rights violations as the government carries out the war against drugs.

He also made mention of the migrants seeking refuge to other countries, who the EU and US refused to take in to their country.

“Kayong US, EU you can call me everything but I was never into or I am never into hypocrisy like you”, Duterte was quoted saying.
