Worker’s Holiday Pay Reminded By DOLE To Private Employers

Private employers were reminded by Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to pay their employees 30% more during special non-working holidays.

On Monday (October 31, 2016) and Tuesday (November 01, 2016), All Saints Day are special non-working holidays where private employers are required to pay an additional 30 percent to their employees if they report for duty during those holidays.

During a special non-working, an additional 30 percent for the employees in their first hours of work and another 30 percent per hour of overtime work is required if they report on those holidays according to the wage rules.

The proper observance of the pay rules and core labor standards on these special non-working days promote decent work, productivity and competitiveness among workers,” Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said in a statement on Sunday quoted by Inquirer.
