First Mass to be celebrated in two years in Qaraqosh, Iraq. 

Christian celebrated their first Sunday mass at a local burnt-out church in two years after their town was recaptured from ISIS.

Qaraqos, which was once Iraq’s main Christian town, celebrated their first Sunday mass. The residents living in the town made their way to the church despite the chaos continuing around them as the Battle for Mosul enters its third week.

According to a report of GMA news, a handful of faithful gathered in a burnt out church. Wherein the bell tower at the Grand Immaculate Church was reportedly damaged, statues were decapitated and missals strewn across the nave floor.

Despite the war, many Christian made their way to worship god and for their first mass to be celebrated.
