Duterte stresses: I’m not a US lapdog
Duterte stressed that he is not a US lapdog. He said that the country’s (EDCA) with the United States (US) may be scrapped during his term.
President Rodrigo Duterte announced to the public that he will have a three-day official visit to Japan. But before his departure, Duterte voiced outrage over comments made of US Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affair Daniel Russel who said that Duterte’s rhetoric causes international distress.
The Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte said he couldn’t hold back his anger when Russel, who criticized his anti-US tirades and his drug war which has claimed 3,700 lives in four months.

Furthermore, Duterte said that the country’s Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) with the United States (US) may be scrapped during his term.
“Yes, you have the EDCA. Well, forget it. If I stay here long enough… One day, that EDCA will… If it is an executive agreement then I will… I do not want to see any military man of any other nation except the Filipino soldier,” Duterte said.
