US Navy destroyer sailed near the South China Sea drawing a warning from Chinese warship to leave the area.

The news was reportedly confirmed by the department spokesman, Navy Cmdr. Gary Ross, by saying, the destroyer ship USS Decatur conducted the transit operation near the Paracel Islands.

Ross did not specify the exact location where in the Paracels the ship sailed. He just said that said it was done “in a routine, lawful manner without ship escorts and without incident.”

This incident anger the China and called it “illegal” and “provocative.” According to a recent news report of Reuters.com, a Chinese defense ministry statement called it “a gravely illegal act” and “intentionally provocative.”
