The Office of the Ombudsman does not see any reason for it to investigate Senator Leila de Lima.
Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales said on Monday that the Office of the Ombudsman does not see any reason to launch an investigation against Senator Leila de Lima on her alleged involvement in illegal drugs.
When asked on whether a motu propio investigation will be conducted by her office against the lady senator, Ombudsman Morales replied, “It’s not going to happen”.
“Because lahat naman allegations itong mga ito. Wala pa namang lead talaga that would prompt us to initiate our investigation”, Morales said.
(Because all of these were allegations. We don’t actually have a lead that would prompt us to initiate our investigation.)
According to Ombudsman Morales, the complaint against Senator De Lima that is filed before the Office of the Ombudsman in the Visayas will be forwarded to her office after it conducts its own fact-finding investigation.
