De Lima, 5 Others, Under Immigration Lookout – DOJ Orders

De Lima, 5 Others, Under Immigration Lookout

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has recently issued immigration lookout order (ILBO) over Senator  Leila De Lima and five others who were allegedly involved in the now investigated New Bilibid Prison illegal drug trade.

In a report by ABS-CBN, a memorandum has been submitted by DOJ Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II on October 7, directing Immigration officers to hold down De lima and the other personalities. They include:

De Lima Under Immigration Lookout

– Ronnie Dayan, De Lima’s former driver

– Joenel Sanchez, De Lima’s former bodyguard

– former DOJ Undersecretary Francisco Baraan II;

– former Corrections chief Franklin Bucayu; and

– former Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) Executive Director Reginald Villasanta

“Considering the gravity of the possible commission of any offense, there is a strong possibility that they may attempt to place themselves beyond the reach of legal processes of this Department by leaving the country,” as written in Aguirre’s memorandum addressed to Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente.

“We thus deem the issuance of an ILBO against the subject persons prudent in order to at least monitor the itineraries of their flight, travel, and/or whereabouts,” it added.

De Lima, Baraan, and Bucayu had been accused by witnesses in a House inquiry of getting millions of pesos in the illegal drugs trade from high-profile inmates at the NBP. Sanchez, though, has been accused of being the ‘bagman’ of De Lima.

In the report, Sanchez denied the collection of the said money for De Lima but, has supported the allegations that De Lima and Dayan had an affair during her term as the Justice Secretary.

Meanwhile, Villasanta has been alleged of attempting to go with Bucayu when he made an appeal with former police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group chief Benjamin Magalong to cancel a raid at the NBP in 2014.
