John Kirby confirms that US provides $180-M aid to the Philippines next year.
State Department spokesman John Kirby has recently announced to the public that the United States is committed to providing $180 million in assistance to the Philippines in the fiscal year 2017.
“We continue to focus on our broad relationship with the Philippines and we’ll work together in the many areas of mutual interest,” Kirby said.
Kirby clarifies that the aid US to ensure the assistance earmarked for law enforcement is not used in extrajudicial killings. Kirby said that the US government routinely and regularly vet security forces through a process known as “Leahy vetting.”
According to a recent news report of Inquirer.net, the United States is committed to providing $180 million in assistance to the Philippines in fiscal year 2017.
