Creative Imagination In Reporting Urged By Malacañan

The Malacañan Palace urges the members of the press to avoid being very literal, and use their creative imagination, about the statements made by President Rodrigo Duterte.

The Malacañan Palace is urging the members of the media not to take the statement of President Rodrigo Duterte literally and instead, use their creative imagination.

Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella said on Wednesday press briefing that the Duterte’s statements, particularly about cutting ties with the United States, should be read between the lines, thus, requiring the members of the press be using their creative imagination.

“Dapat intindihin natin yung word na ‘cut ng ties’. It’s a possibility that he could, that he might…”, said Sec. Abella, without being able to say the exact word.

“Let’s try to use our creative imagination. ‘Wag tayo masyadong literal”, Abella urged in a televised press conference.

The presidential spokesperson added that most of the statements of the president are ‘expressions of frustration’ and that the public should wait for him to clarify his comments on the matter.
