As of the moment, the counsel of the self-confessed hitman is still awaiting the response of Edgar Matobato regarding his withdrawal.
The legal counsel of self-confessed hit man, Edgar Matobato, has filed a motion for withdrawal from handling the case.
This is after Matobato has testified in the investigation conducted by the Senate Committee on Justice and Human Rights regarding the extrajudicial killings in the country since President Rodrigo Duterte assumed in the presidency.
According to Atty. Gregorio Andalona, Judge Silverio Mandalupe of the Municipal Trial Court Branch 3 has already received his motion for withdrawal on Tuesday but up to date, the judge has not issued any comment or course of action because Matobato has not yet made any comment or confirmation.
According to Andalona, the reason behind his withdrawal is that because he cannot anymore contact his client.
There was supposed to be a hearing regarding the illegal possession if firearms and ammunition charges filed against Matobato but the self-confessed former member of the Davao Death Squad (DDS) did not make appearance, not even Atty. Andolana.
Meanwhile, the court has not yet issued any warrant of arrest against Matobato because it has not any proper notice service of subpoena for it.
Matobato was charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition following his arrest and confiscation of a colt .45 caliber pistol without any pertinent document in his abode at Km 12, Sagrada Familia, Sasa, in Davao City last July 19, 2014.
Matobato has been one of the points of interest in the investigation of the Senate regarding the EJK. He was also said to be the root of the outrage of Senator Leila de Lima in the Monday night hearing.

It was because the Senators found that Matobato is also facing kidnapping charges but was not disclosed before the panel. The Senators felt like they were fooled and that Senator De Lima was hiding important information from them, which can also be essential to the hearing.
